"Type to Learn Jr" is a great keyboarding program for our primary students in grades K-2. The main focus is finding those letters and which hand to use! The program will be installed on all our computers at QAE. Like our Type to Learn program in grades 2-5, the subscription includes a home installation. Please let me know if you'd like "Type To Learn Jr" for your home computer and I will provide you the installation CD.
Thank you in advance for returning all typing CDs to the library as soon as possible. At this point I have none to lend until more are returned. This is a good thing, kinda. Mr. Jeffrey Teacher/Librarian
Quite a few parents were looking for the keyboarding software, Type to Learn, in the library while I was out of the building. Those CD's were given to Ms. Kirch in the office, forgive the miscommunication. I have all the CD's in the library ready for check-out. Please send me an email or have your child stop by the library. Simply install the program and activate with our school code. The practice continues where your child left off at school. Nice.

The QAE library "slush fund" campaign end on Novemeber 11. Book seller, Follett, is giving us an additional 10% of our total amount collected, which is pretty cool. I've compared their costs with other book sellers and they usually the best price. The big bonus ordering books through Follett, they arrive cataloged, labeled, and covered - "shelf ready", a huge time saver allowing me time to plan and work with students. I am calling on all my friends and support beyond QAE to donate to the library program. Buying books requested by our students and teachers without delay is a very good thing. Thanks for taking a look at the TITLEWISH campaign and considering a small donation.
Thanks for your support! Jeffrey Teacher/Librarian
We believe that proper keyboarding is a 21st Century skill and essential for all students. At Queen Anne Elementary students in grades 2-5 are becoming solid keyboarders by practicing using a program called Type To Learn 4. This program begins each student at the basic foundation of keyboarding (Recruit): hand positioning, posture, and home row keys. The program allows each user to save the world through proper keyboarding and accuracy! Our QAE keyboarding license allows for each student to install Type to Learn on their how computer. Students have an individual account that allows them to monitor progress. The program will progress users as they finish each lesson with success. Installing the program using the provided activation code will connect home and school practice. Please let me know or have your child stop by for a copy of TTL.
For primary students the goal is letter recognition on the keyboard and practice finding letters and symbols. A "Keyboarding" page has been created using resources from my favorite, tried and true, websites that make keyboarding fun - total family fun! Intermediate students have a great times using many of these resources as well. (Madeline and I will often practice using Typing Chef after watching Top Chef)
Happy Keyboarding!
