Generous friends donated  11 Experiments That Failed, Geronimo Stilton and Frog and Toad Audio CD to the library collection!! We now have books on CD - players available for check out. Send me an email if you'd like your child to check one out.

Thank you for visiting the Library Book WIsh List. All the books listed are the best of the best and needed for our library.  Please consider taking a book or two off the list. I need YOU.  I'd love to celebrate your child by placing a personalized label inside the front cover.

The Art of Reading Aloud

Bringing books alive while reading aloud is gift we can give all listeners! It's the hook that brings our children closer to being life long readers. Changing your voice and tone to match your image of the character makes a story rich with enjoyment. My mentor, inspiration and virtual friend since my career began, 20 years ago, is the great Mex Fox. Through her examples and theory my skills continue to improve. In the library, I strive at reading every story with excitement and gusto!

I enjoyed seeing many of you at Open House last night. This was my first open house where I was daddy first then QAE librarian. Kinda cool - loving having my daughter here at the greatest school in the world!

Library Wish List

I've decided that instead of accepting donations for the library through Titlewish, I will put books/materials requested by students and teacher on our Amazon Wish List. Donating through Amazon will earn dollars for QAE and allow you all to see the books being purchased. Our team of library volunteers is strong; we will cover, catalog the new books and place a book label with your child's name on the inside cover of books donated by YOU!

Books included on the Wish List are the 2012 WA Children's Choice Award books, books on CD so that we can provide more options for students to enjoy books and student requested books. Check out the comments on the "Book Wish Blog" - this is a great collection of requests.

Titlewish Campaign Starts

Last year, 49 students requested books by clicking on the BOOK WISH BLOG. Because of the generous donations from our community all those books were purchased and added to the library collection for check-out. For the next three weeks the TITLEWISH campaign will be open for your donations to our library program. Thank in advance for any contributions, big or small, you can make. Feel free to send this blog to friends and family.

Have you noticed the red button on the library home page? This is our Library Book Wish Blog button. Here students and parents can add a comment to a blog letting me know what books they would like to see added to our library collection. Over time, our collection will evolve into a collection built by us, such a good thing.

Make a difference in the library!

Last year, my success as a second year librarian (and every year of my 20 year career) is the partnerships I've developed with volunteers. The time volunteers spend in the library model for our students a strong sense of community involvement and allows me to provide greater support for students and teachers.
